About Calcite:
Calcite, like aragonite and vaterite is calcium carbonate (CaCo3) with a Mohs hardness of 3.
Calcite comes in many colors which are caused by trace impurities of elements such as iron, magnesium, manganese, zinc and cobalt.
It can take many forms from massive (made up of many tiny crystals too small to see) to optically clear single crystals known as Iceland Spar.
